The focus of the college being all-round development of students, the college endeavors to channelise youthful energy and potential and imbibe in them the spirit of community service through involvement in NSS, NCC and Sports. The students have to opt for any one of these activities and put in a minimum of 80 hours of work to be eligible for the award of degree. Such participation is awarded with one credit at the end of the undergraduate programme.
National Service Scheme (NSS)
The college has the unique distinction of being the recipients of 4 National awards by the Govt. for NSS in the very year of the inception of the awards.
The college attempts to instill in the students the spirit of community service by involving them in extension activities organized by the NSS units. The students opting for NSS have to put in a minimum of 80 hours of work to be eligible for the award of degree. Such participation is awarded with one credit at the end of the undergraduate programme.
There are three Units of NSS. The programme officers in collaboration with the NSS unit of Osmania University organize all activities. Each of these three NSS units adopt local slums and organize diverse developmental activities, general awareness programs to improve the quality of life of the slum dwellers.

Apart from the active involvement of the 3 NSS units of the college in extension activities, the launching of “CARE” Counselling and Response Education Centre in St. Francis to spread awareness of HIV / AIDS problems deserves special mention. The state government through the Osmania University NSS Cell has bestowed on the college the responsibility of working for young people’s lives through CARE in the very inception of the scheme.

The NSS units of St. Francis have won accolades at the national and state level through their dedicated and selfless services . The Prestigious Indira Gandhi National Awards for 2 consecutive years for the Best College, Best NSS Volunteers, Best NSS Programme Officer, National Youth Award for best NSS Student, Janmabhoomi Award for Best coordination Officer, State award for Best College for NSS, State award for Best Programme Officer, State award for Best NSS Volunteer
- Ms. G. Trivikrama – B.Com. III has won the prestigious Indira Gandhi NSS National award as the best NSS Volunteer in 1999.
- Ms. Soughanthi – B.A. III an active NSS volunteer was chosen to participate in the International Youth Exchange Programme – 2000 in Japan by the Ministry of Youth Development, India .
- Our college was chosen by the Ministry of sports and Youth Affairs, India to conduct the National Integration Camp in August, 2000. 150 NSS students from 17 Universities participated in this national integration experience.
- Ms. N. Yamuna – B.A. III an NSS student volunteer had the privilege of attending “Youth Conference at Darwin Australia ” through the Indian Red Cross Society in September, 2002.
- Swapna – B.Sc. III, NSS volunteer was selected for the Republic Day parade in 2004 at New Delhi .
- Dr. L.V.V. Gouri, Programme Officer NSS attended the 10 day Pre-RD camp held in Raipur, Chattisgarh and was selected to attend the republic day Parade at Delhi in January, 2005.
- Ms. J. Aarthi – B.Sc. III, Ms. Neeharika – B.Sc. III and Kadambari – B.A. I participated in the National students and Youth Parliament in November, 2004 at New Delhi .
- Ms. Mangala – B.A. I selected and attended the 10 day Pre-RD camp at Raipur Chattisgarh in October, 2004
Mangala of B.A. III has participated in the National RD parade and Kadambini – B.A. III has attended the National Integration camp at Delhi 2006.
National Cadets Corps (NCC)
NCC aims at development of leadership qualities, strong character, spirit of service and creation of a disciplined force that could be of use in national emergencies. Training is provided with a view to developing officer- like qualities in the cadets enabling them to obtain commissions in the Armed Forces. The total strength of the NCC squad in our college comprising three wings (Army, Navy, Air Force) is 80. The students who opt for NCC have to put in a minimum of 80 hours of work to be eligible for the award of degree. Such participation is awarded with one credit at the end of the undergraduate programme. 
To develop the spirit of adventure among the cadets various adventure activities such as trekking, para-sailing, mountaineering etc. are offered. International youth exchange programmes, national and local camps are conducted. Every year, individual cadets have won laurels for themselves and the college.
Some of our Cadets and staff have represented our State at the Republic Day Paradein Delhi and have won many awards. They have also participated in the Integration camp at Port Blair and the International Youth Exchange Programmes.

Sports
The Department of Sports at St. Francis college offers a number of sports activities to help students become physically fit, develop leadership qualities and encourage a spirit of sportsmanship. 
The college offers regular sports coaching in the mornings for the students desirous of competing in Inter-Collegiate competitions. The college appoints coaches on a parttime basis for regular coaching as well as for the conduct of SPORTS CERTIFICATE COURSES in: Basket ball, Base Ball, Soft ball, Hand ball, volley ball, Throw ball, Tenniquoit, Table Tennis, Carromms, Chess, Shuttle Badminton, Yoga, Judo, Athletics, Cross-Country, Taekwondo, Karate, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Lawn Tennis and Physical Fitness.
The college has excellent infrastructural facilities for both indoor and outdoor activities. Well laid-out cement basket ball, volley ball and tenniquoit courts in addition to well-equipped indoor facilities at the sports room provides students with opportunities to learn new sports and improve their proficiency. The following are the guidelines for sports participation:
- Students who register for sports as in the case of NCC or NSS are required to put in a minimum of 75% attendance during the sports certificate course and regular games hours assigned as part of the time table.
- Students opting for sports are required to complete their certificate course in any sport during their Ist or IInd semester with a compulsory attendance of 40 hrs.
- Students who represent the College at District, State, Zonal, All-India Intervarsities, National and International levels are required to have at least 50% attendance in order to appear for the examinations.
- Students are allowed a retest in case of a clash between match/sports event dates and Internal Assessment dates, if they are representing college upon prior intimation. This facility is however not available for semester-end examinations to ensure that the academic career of the student is not affected.
The college invites applications for admission from students who have participated at State, National and International level under the sports quota. The application should be superscribed as “Sports Quota” and should be accompanied by all relevant certificates. Such students will have to attend an interview on a date fixed for the same. All support required for the student to further her career will be provided by the department and the college. 
Faith Formation
The college promotes religious and spiritual awareness and imparts religious instruction to all Catholic and Christian students. For all Catholic and Christian students classes are held once a week and attendance is compulsory. The college organizes a Spiritual Retreat Session every year. Prayer services and religious discourses are a regular feature.
Inter Religious harmony is promoted by organizing meaningful interfaith prayers.
75% attendance in Faith Formation classes is compulsory and a student is awarded one credit at the end of the undergraduate programme.
Value Education
St. Francis has incorporated value education as part of its academic programme right from its inception and its commitment to the promotion of values is unmistakable. The main objective is to develop the right set of values through informal and interactive sessions. These classes are held once a week and attendance is compulsory for all students. Topics discussed are generally related to youth and their conflicts, challenges etc., These issues are discussed through role-plays, skits, questionnaires The response of the students has been very positive in terms of building a good rapport with teachers and friends and as students have reported that these sessions are a great help in both corporate as well as personal life.
75% attendance in Value Education classes is compulsory and a student is awarded one credit at the end of the undergraduate programme.
The College Choir
The nightingales of St Francis form the impressive "St Francis Choir". It has
two wings - The Indian Choir and The Western Choir.
Auditions are held at the beginning of the year and practices are held through the year for the number of programmes that the choir is an integral part of.
